A whirpool of events

The last couple of weeks have been quite busy and interesting. We let go of head coach and hired a interim coach Mitch Galloway who use to play for the Guard last year. This past weekend the team went down to Columbus, GA and had the fourth lost handed to them. Right now I have been the given the chance to do sales again and hopefully land a field sponsors for the rest of the season. Also I have bumped up to Assistant Equipment Manger, which includes helping keep inventory of the equipment, making sure the jersey taking back up after games and wash, making sure the pratices are set up(i.e. water, balls, locker, etc.) and also setting the locker rooms on game days.

Preseason Game Week

The Sunday of March 9 the Guard had a preseason game against Beaufort Broncos an outdoor team that agree to play inside for us. I got to see how things where run on a game day and I didn't get involved to much cause I was observing the activities. For the home opener I will have more of a detail role. As far as the office work goes I am trying to get more sponership trades for home games. More activites for the kids and things like that, also working on getting radio interviews with players on 104.5 fm station here in Fayetteville.

Event Meeting and Press Confernce

This week I had the chance to go to a event planning meeting with the Crown Coliseum, Fayetteville Guard and Fireantz. I got to see how hard it is for a town that has two sports playing at the same time to lock down time for events plus with coliseum getting many acts comming in. The one reason that I heard that makes it hard to have certain days is the "turnover". What this means is how quick the coliseum can break that day or night event and get ready for the next day event. Also this week the team had its frist press confernce of the season. A spokesperson from the league come down and talk about the broadcasting of games this year and how the league is growing together. You can catch the press confernce on Fayobserver.com.

Training Camp

Training Camp started on Feb. 15 and will go on for ten days. I had to help set up the field for different drills for the coaches. Also help passing out equipment and making sure we enough balls. One of things I will be working also is to help set up a press conference with SimplyMe TV, the internet company showing the games, for the Guard in a couple weeks. Also I get to go with the team down to Floernce for a preseason game. On Feb. 22 I had the chance to tag along for a meeting to Jim's Deli for a trade promotion deal. So far I have a total of 80 hours for my internship.
